Responsibilities:
- Lead production technology studies for oil and gas fields, including production optimization, well performance analysis, and production forecasting.
- Monitor and optimize production rates, well productivity, and field performance to maximize hydrocarbon recovery.
- Analyze well behavior using production surveillance data, nodal analysis, pressure transient analysis, and production system modelling.
- Identify production constraints and recommend technical solutions to improve production efficiency and uptime.
- Develop and implement well intervention, stimulation, re-completion, and artificial lift strategies.
- Support field development planning and integrated asset management activities.
- Coordinate with Reservoir Engineers, Drilling Engineers, and Operations teams to ensure integrated production management.
- Review production chemistry, scale, corrosion, hydrate, wax, and sand management issues and recommend mitigation measures.
- Conduct production system optimization covering wells, flowlines, separators, and surface facilities.
- Ensure compliance with company standards, PETRONAS requirements, and applicable regulatory guidelines.
- Participate in HAZOP, risk assessment, technical assurance, and management of change (MOC) activities.
- Provide technical mentoring and guidance to junior engineers and operational personnel.
- Prepare technical reports, production reviews, and management presentations.
- Support budgeting, production planning, and operational expenditure optimization initiatives.
- Participate in offshore/site visits, troubleshooting, and emergency production support when required.
Requirements:
- Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree, Post Graduate Diploma or Professional Degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or any equivalent
- Registered with Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) is preferred
- Professional Engineer (Ir.) certification, or any relevant oil & gas industry certification, will be an added advantage
- Required skill(s): Strong knowledge of production technology and production engineering principles, including well performance analysis and nodal analysis. Experienced in artificial lift systems (ESP, gas lift, SRP, PCP), flow assurance, and production chemistry. Familiar with well intervention and stimulation techniques, as well as HSE and process safety requirements in oil and gas operations. Knowledgeable in PETRONAS Technical Standards (PTS) and upstream regulatory requirements.
- Key quality(s): Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated leadership and decision-making capability. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Strong planning, coordination, and organizational abilities
- Required language(s): English and Bahasa Malaysia
- Desired experience/exposure: Minimum of 15 years of experience in the upstream oil and gas industry, with at least 8 years in production technology, well performance, and production optimization. Experience in both offshore and onshore production operations is preferred, while exposure to brownfield and greenfield developments will be an added advantage.
- Willingness to travel offshore and onshore as required.
- Must be medically fit for offshore and site assignments in accordance with industry requirements.
- Able to support emergency operational situations outside normal working hours when necessary.
